A Sister’s Village Inc. is excited to introduce a unique, inclusive initiative designed to celebrate, preserve, and deepen the cultural heritage of Jews of Color and their families. Hosted at Natural Nest Play Cafe and local Synagogues, this project will transform our space into a vibrant hub for intergenerational connection, cultural exploration, and community building. Our mission is to foster a welcoming environment where Jews of Color families can gather, share experiences, and immerse themselves in the traditions and rituals that enrich their heritage.

Cultural Workshops
Through hands-on workshops, we invite families to explore JoC Jewish customs, traditions, and rituals. Skilled facilitators lead sessions covering topics from traditional Jewish music to ritual practices, providing materials and resources for a meaningful, interactive experience.

Intergenerational Storytelling
Storytelling sessions unite JoC elders, children, and families to share and listen to stories that celebrate their cultural and family heritage. These sessions offer young JoC families a unique communal experience, creating a safe and nurturing space outside of conventional settings.

Artistic Expression
We encourage families to express themselves through art, music, and dance, guided by talented instructors. Art supplies, instruments, and creative materials are provided, giving participants the chance to connect with their Jewish identity in a personal, creative way.

Community Building Events
Bringing families together for Shabbat dinners, Hanukkah celebrations, and other holiday gatherings, this project fosters a support network within the Delaware Jews of Color community. These events are designed to build friendships, establish support systems, and create a sense of belonging.

Why Natural Nest Play Cafe?
Our venue, Natural Nest Play Cafe, is an inclusive space designed for children up to 8 years old, where young minds can explore and socialize in a safe, engaging environment. While the café provides a stimulating play area for children, parents can relax and enjoy refreshments, knowing their little ones are in a secure space. A Sister’s Village is proud to offer this space free of charge for all program activities, ensuring every grant dollar goes directly toward enriching the program.

This program is an integral part of our commitment to preserving and advancing Jewish cultural traditions while building bridges across generations. We see this as the beginning of a larger vision: a model that can inspire similar initiatives across the nation. Our goal is to start small, grow with intention, and share our experiences widely, contributing to a more connected and inclusive Jewish community for all.
